Electrolyte Label Statistics 2026
We read the ingredient labels of 27 best-selling US electrolyte drink mixes on September 30, 2026. 0 of the 26 we could count were free of both zero-calorie sweeteners and "natural flavors." 25 of 26 contain a zero- or low-calorie sweetener, 16 of 26 contain stevia, and 23 of 26 list "natural flavors." What is actually in the electrolyte mixes most people buy? We read the ingredient lists of the best-selling electrolyte drink mixes in the US and counted what they contain. We also counted what our own customers say in their reviews. Every number below comes with its sample and its date, so you can check it or quote it.
Key findings
- 0 of 26 best-selling electrolyte drink mixes we audited were free of both zero-calorie sweeteners and "natural flavors." (Amazon best sellers, labels read September 30, 2026.)
- 25 of 26 contain at least one zero- or low-calorie sweetener: stevia, monk fruit, sucralose, acesulfame K, aspartame, a sugar alcohol, or allulose.
- 16 of 26 contain stevia. 2 contain monk fruit.
- 10 of 26 contain sucralose or acesulfame K. 1 contains aspartame.
- 23 of 26 list "natural flavor" or "natural flavors." All 26 list at least one flavoring that is not a named fruit or food.
- 16 of 26 contain an anti-caking or flow agent: 12 use silicon dioxide and 5 use calcium silicate (one uses both).
- 5 of 26 contain maltodextrin (1 more could not be confirmed either way).
- 4 of 26 contain an artificial color.
- 9 of 26 list no magnesium at all. 3 use magnesium oxide.
- Sodium per serving ranged from 10mg to 1,000mg, with a median of 300mg, across the 25 products that publish a sodium figure.
What our own customers say
From the 514 customer reviews in our review database as of September 30, 2026, counted by keyword across the review title and text.
- 100 of 514 reviews mention stevia or monk fruit. Those reviews average 4.85 stars, against 4.72 for all 514.
- 55 of 514 reviews use the word "finally." Those reviews average 4.95 stars.
- 20 of 514 reviews describe getting used to the taste. 19 of those 20 rate Mineral Mist 4 or 5 stars. 7 of the 20 say how long it took, and all 7 put it at about a week or less.
Keywords used: "stevia," "monk fruit," "monkfruit"; "finally"; "get used to," "got used to," "getting used to," "grew on me," "few days," "acquired taste," "adjust." A review is counted once no matter how many keywords it contains.
How we measured
- Which products. We searched Amazon.com for "electrolyte powder drink mix," sorted by best sellers, on September 30, 2026 (delivery location Whittier, CA). The first 48 organic results were kept. We removed sponsored listings, products that are not electrolyte mixes (energy powders, vitamin C packets, pre-workouts, sleep and calm mixes), and duplicate pack sizes of the same formula. That left 27 distinct formulas. Different formulas from the same brand (for example sugar-free and original) count separately.
- Which flavor. One flavor per formula: the flavor in the best-selling listing, or the first flavor on the brand's own page. Labels can differ by flavor, so each row names the flavor we read.
- Which label. We read the brand's own website first, then a major retailer listing when the brand site did not print the ingredients. Every row links to the page we read.
- What we counted. An ingredient is counted only if it appears in the printed ingredient list. "Natural flavor" is counted when those words appear. Stevia includes stevia leaf extract, Reb A, Reb M and steviol glycosides.
- What we left out. One of the 27 formulas (Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier + Energy) is not in the counts, because we could only find its ingredient list on a crowdsourced database, not on a brand or retailer page. The ingredient counts cover the other 26. Sugar content is not part of this audit.
- Limits. Labels change. We read them on one day, and some brands print one ingredient list for all flavors. If you spot a label that has changed, email hello@untammed.co and we will re-check it and note the change below.

Berry Sweet, one of our five flavors, contains 2g of organic cane sugar per serving. The other four have 0g added sugar. Our citrus flavors and Berry Sweet include a little lemon or lime extract.
Definitions and sources
- "Natural flavor." Defined by the FDA at 21 CFR 101.22(a)(3). Solvents and carriers used in a flavor are generally not listed separately on the label. Read the regulation.
- Sugars on the Nutrition Facts panel. "Total Sugars" counts mono- and disaccharides (21 CFR 101.9(c)(6)(ii)), which is why maltodextrin, a longer starch chain, does not count as sugar there. Read the regulation.
