Mineral Mist Strawberry Sunrise bag standing in the sand at the beach

Stevia Is a Plant.
What’s in Your Electrolyte Isn’t.

We made an electrolyte without stevia. The stevia on most labels isn’t the leaf. It’s one sweet compound, purified to 95% or more, and 200 to 400 times sweeter than sugar.

We use organic coconut water and real fruit instead.

Plus 595mg of sodium from sea salt in every scoop.

Some “Stevia” Has Never Touched a Stevia Plant

You flip the package over. You find the word stevia. It sounds like a plant, so it passes your label check.

That’s the problem. One friendly word can stand for very different things.

Here’s what it can actually mean.

Two identical dishes of white sweetener powder: one in front of a stevia sprig, one in front of a steel fermentation vessel and a flask of yeast culture

One started as a leaf. One was brewed by yeast. The label won’t tell you which.

The label saysWhat it can mean
“Rebaudioside A” or “Reb A”The one we found named most on best-selling labels. Pulled from the leaf, steeped, run through resin columns, filtered through carbon and crystallized twice, until one compound is left, 95% or more pure.1 It’s also one of the compounds scientists tested when they traced that bitter, lingering finish to two bitter taste receptors.4
“Stevia leaf extract”9 of the 16 best sellers with stevia stop right here. It doesn’t say which compound is inside or how it was made. Some labels even print “Stevia Leaf Extract (Rebaudioside A)”: one purified compound, called a leaf.5
“Reb M”Can be brewed from sugar by engineered yeast. It never has to touch a stevia plant.3
“Steviol glycosides”The technical name for the whole family. It doesn’t say which one, or which process made it.

Whichever one is in your packet, it’s 200 to 400 times sweeter than sugar.2 By weight, one gram does the work of up to 400 grams of sugar. That’s close to a pound.

And it isn’t a once-in-a-while thing. If your electrolyte is a daily habit, that’s 365 glasses a year sweetened by an ingredient the label won’t explain.

You did the work. You flipped the package. The word just doesn’t tell you.

Here’s a detail most people miss: as a food ingredient, FDA accepts the highly purified version, not the whole leaf.2

So we skip it entirely.

We flavor Mineral Mist with organic coconut water and real fruit, and let the sea salt do its job.

Because you shouldn’t need a chemistry degree to read your electrolyte.

We’re not anti-nature. We’re anti-process.

Why the First Sip Surprises People

Mineral Mist Strawberry Sunrise bag and drink next to a breakfast plate

Most electrolytes taste like candy. That’s what happens when the sweetener is 200 to 400 times sweeter than sugar.

And that bitter, lingering finish many stevia sweeteners leave? It’s real. Scientists traced it to two bitter taste receptors.4

Ours isn’t built that way. Salt comes first. Fruit comes second. There’s no sweet wave on top.

If stevia drinks are your reference, real fruit tastes different. That’s the point.

Most people settle in fast. In our reviews, 20 people described getting used to the taste, and 19 of them gave it 4 or 5 stars. 7 said how long it took. All 7 said about a week or less.

Pure and simple

The pure ingredients are the main reason I purchased this, not knowing how it was going to taste or the benefits from it. No stevia and no artificial junk. The taste is a little different than a lot of those others I have tried but after about a week, it’s kind of like drinking sweet tea all your life and then going to unsweet tea. It’s a little bit of a shock but once you get used to it, all is good.

Effective Hydration Without the Bad Stuff

I was looking for a good electrolyte option without stevia and all the other stuff I don't need. Untammed is exactly that. I ordered Strawberry Sunrise, and it's true that it tasted odd when I first tried it, just as they said it might. Most of us aren't used to drinking anything without added sweeteners or syrups. But by the time I mixed up my second cup, I found I really enjoyed it. Better yet, I feel hydrated, and my whole body can feel the difference. I'm about to order the coconut and try it out, but I believe I'm sold. I just cancelled my subscription with the brand I used to drink.

How Does It Taste?

Earthy. Slightly savory. Tastes like real food, because it is.

Coming from a sweet mix? Give it a few days. Most people tell us it clicks within the first week, once their taste buds reset from candy-sweet drinks.

Elemental Coconut. Clean and mineral-rich, with a little natural sweetness from coconut water.

Lemon Squeeze. Bright, tart, crisp. Like biting into a real lemon.

Strawberry Sunrise. Smooth berry from real strawberries with a real salty edge. Nothing added to cover it up. No stevia aftertaste, no red dye.

Grapefruit Lime. Sharp lime, bitter grapefruit, a clean edge of sea salt. Tart, not sweet. The way citrus tastes before anyone rounds it off.

Berry Sweet. Raspberry, strawberry, blueberry and tart cherry, with lime to keep the finish clean. Our one lightly sweetened flavor: 2g of organic cane sugar per serving. Still no stevia, no monk fruit, no "natural flavors."

A NOTE ABOUT REAL FOOD:
Mineral Mist won't dissolve like the synthetic stuff. It might settle at the bottom. You might need to shake it twice. The color won't be neon. The sweetness won't hit you like candy.

That's not a flaw. That's what real food looks like in a glass.

Lab-made powders dissolve perfectly because they're engineered to. Ours comes from coconut water, sea salt, and actual fruit. Real food plays by different rules.

Give it a shake. That little bit of settling? That's how you know there's nothing in there making it perform for the camera.

How To Take

Add your recommended amount to 8 to 10 oz of water, stir well, and drink. Most people have 1 to 3 servings a day.

Your exact amount is printed on your pouch. It's usually about 2 teaspoons, but it shifts a little by flavor since we use real food, not a lab formula.

No plastic scoop included. We left it out for the same reason we left out the artificial stuff.

The NO-List

NO "Natural Flavors". Under FDA rules, one "natural flavor" can be a blend of flavor compounds, and the solvents and carriers mixed in don't have to be listed. We use real fruit instead.

NO Stevia, Monk Fruit, or Sugar Alcohols. No sucralose, no erythritol, nothing zero-calorie standing in for fruit. Four of our five flavors have 0g added sugar. Berry Sweet has 2g of organic cane sugar, and it's on the label.

NO Maltodextrin. A processed starch used as a filler. It doesn't count as sugar on the Nutrition Facts panel, so a mix can carry it and still say zero sugar.

NO Artificial Dyes. No Yellow 5, Red 40, or Blue 1. The color comes from the fruit, which is why it's never neon.

NO Preservatives. No sodium benzoate or potassium sorbate. That's why we ask you to finish an open bag within 3 months.

NO Anti-Caking Agents. No silicon dioxide or magnesium silicate. That's why it clumps. The clumps are real fruit.

NO Fillers. No rice flour, microcrystalline cellulose, or other bulking agents.

NO GMOs. Every ingredient is non-GMO.

NO Proprietary Blends. Every ingredient is listed, in order, on every bag.

What's NOT in your electrolyte matters as much as what is.

What Label Readers Say

Love it! I have...

Love it! I have a subscription for the strawberry sunrise and the lemon squeeze. Actually, I like to mix them together. The first review I did was after my first time experiencing Untammed, and like I stated in that review, you definitely have to give it a couple tries before you decide if you like it or not. Your taste buds, especially if you’re coming off of an electrolyte that had Stevia, are gonna need to get over the lack of a sweetener. At the point, not only have my taste buds adjusted but I very much prefer this.

Sick of stevia and monkfruit-- try this one, you won't regret it!

I finally found a no-stevia or monkfruit electrolyte powder! It tastes so much more real than the overly fake-sweet ones. It takes a few days to get used to the salty flavor, but I have come to appreciate it and really like it.

Kathleen S · UNTAMMED customer
Great morning hydration I feel great about

I take my electrolytes right when I wake up with unflavored creatine and a few drops of chlorophyll. It is how I like to rehydrate myself and prep for the day. Since this drink is the first thing I consume after waking up, I want it to be as clean as possible. It is so hard to find electrolytes without monk fruit and stevia and some companies are misleading in their marketing. I actually ordered from another company who on their website said they only used freeze dried fruit to sweeten the flavor but when I got the pack it had both monk fruit and stevia in fine print on the ingredient label. While, I do not have a medical reason as to why I don't want either of those, some people do. So happy I found UNTAMMED after that experience! I really like the strawberry and lemon flavor. Since I drink them first thing in the morning, I actually like that they are less sweet and have a softer, more refreshing flavor! Fake fruit punch or pink lemonade flavor is not what I crave in the morning.

I won't go back to electrolytes with Stevia and Natural Flavors!

Delicious! Refreshing lemon without the sugary, or stevia aftertaste. The cleanest ingredients. No sweet taste, just refreshing, slightly salty, fruity taste. If you want sweet electrolytes this is not for you but it's better! Have it cold with ice.

Madelyn W · UNTAMMED customer
Salty not sweet!

I love this. My husband doesn’t like it but I love how natural it tastes and is. I was looking for something without citric acid, flavorings and stevia. I like that it’s slightly salty and not sweet. I can’t stand sweet electrolyte drinks. This is the perfect amount of strawberry flavor. Now I want to try the other flavors! This is my new morning ritual :)

Janna Sorrell · UNTAMMED customer
Finally electrolytes I can feel good about

I've tried so many electrolyte powders and they all have stevia, monk fruit, or some weird additives. This is literally just real food. Me and my kids drink it every day, even my picky 4 year old loves the strawberry. We're obsessed.

Audrey Belfort · UNTAMMED customer
My whole family loves this!

Love how clean the ingredients are, just clean hydration. The lemon flavor is my favorite. 10/10 recommend to every mom who's tired of reading ingredient labels and cringing! 🙌

You’ve Got Questions. We’ve Got Answers.

Is stevia bad for you?

FDA accepts purified stevia as a food ingredient, and we’re not here to tell you it will hurt you. We left it out for two reasons: how it’s made and how it tastes.

Our view is simple. If a drink needs a compound 200 to 400 times sweeter than sugar to taste good, we’d rather change the drink.

What about monk fruit?

Different plant, same idea: a concentrated extract doing the sweetening. We skip that too. Every bit of sweetness in Mineral Mist comes from coconut water and fruit, plus 2g of organic cane sugar in Berry Sweet.

Why is there sugar in it?

Coconut water and fruit carry a little natural sugar: 2 to 3.8g per scoop, with 0g added in four flavors. A little natural sugar helps your body absorb sodium and water.* That’s why we kept it instead of reaching for a zero-calorie sweetener.

Why does it taste salty?

Each scoop has 595mg of sodium from sea salt, with no sweetener on top to hide it. That salt is the electrolyte. For your first few glasses, try a little less powder or a little more water.

Why are there clumps?

We don’t add anti-caking agents. The clumps are real fruit and coconut water powder picking up a little humidity. Shake or froth and they mix right in.

How do I mix it?

Add 1 3/4 to 2 teaspoons to 8 to 12 oz of water. Stir or shake. That’s it.

What if I don’t like it?

Send it back. First-time buyers get a full 30 days, every dollar returned. No hoops.
